A Class 3 license allows operation of personal passenger vehicles. It requires passing vision, knowledge, and road tests.
When applying for a permit at age 15 half
The instruction permit allows supervised driving with a licensed driver age 21+ in the front seat.
If you are under age 18 applying for a license
Teen drivers need a driver’s ed certificate, a behind-the-wheel course, and must hold a permit for 6 months.
When you pass the road test in Hawaii
A provisional license has restrictions until age 18, such as limited night driving and passenger rules.

Adult drivers may apply for a full, unrestricted license directly after passing the written, vision, and skills exams.

If you want to drive a motorcycle in Hawaii
Class 2 covers motorcycles. You must pass both written and skills tests or complete a safety course.
When you want to drive a moped
Mopeds require a separate license. Riders must be at least 15 and pass a written test.
